Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) explained

The Australian Stock Exchange Limited or the ASX was started in 1987 by combining 6 self-governing stock exchanges that earlier functioned in the capital cities of the states. Initially, the ASX started out as an independent establishment like the earlier 6 stock markets. But in 1996, the members of the ASX took the decision of making it a listed company that would follow the laws of the Australian parliament. On 13 October 1998 the status was changed and since then the ASX shares were listed on ASX's individual market.
